MISSION STATEMENT
The Discipleship Purpose Group insures that each member of the congregation grows in his or her personal and communal relationship with Jesus Christ.
OBJECTIVES/GUIDELINES
SECTION 1. Continual Assessment of all Current/Future Discipleship Programs
a. Assure programs are effective
b. Assure leaders are properly equipped in the area of Discipleship
c. Assure that all activities are proper and being conducted in good order
d. Assure that expenditures are proper and that funding has been properly secured
e. Coordinate various efforts of the congregation in Discipleship education
f. Assess the growth of the congregation, pertaining to educational/discipleship needs, making recommendations where needed
SECTION 2. Solicitation and Review of New Ideas
a. Provide forum for discussion, review of new ideas related to Discipleship
b. Provide assistance in organizing and implementing new Discipleship programs
c. New Discipleship programs requiring funding from the church or church facilities must:
1. Be reviewed by Discipleship Purpose Group
2. Be approved by Discipleship Purpose Group
a. Consistory guidance can be sought at the discretion of the Discipleship Purpose Group or its Chairperson
3. Have the following Questions answered before presentation new program Consistory
a. How idea can be accomplished
b. Funding needed
c. Facilities needed
SECTION 3. Learning/Growth Opportunities During Sunday School Hour
a. Organize Sunday School classes
b. Recruit and provide training for Sunday School teachers
c. Assess the effectiveness of and modify programs as needs arise
SECTION 4. Provide Direction in Learning/Growth Opportunities During Midweek Activities
a. Young Girls Program such as the GEMS program
b. Young Mens Program such as the Cadets program
c. Prime Time program
d. Bible studies
e. Nursery
SECTION 5. Provide Learning/Growth Opportunities Specifically for Youth
a. Assess leadership/staffing needs
1. Provide recommended changes to Consistory and assist with implementation
b. Provide direction, guidance to Junior High Youth Fellowship programs and their leader(s)
c. Provide direction, guidance to Senior High Youth Fellowship programs and their leader(s)
d. Review and approve special activities of the programs
1. Assure that they reflect the beliefs of the congregation
SECTION 6. Provide Learning/Growth Opportunities for
a. Small groups
b. College/Career Ministries
c. ALPHA (with Evangelism)
SECTION 7. Perform Adminstration of a Child/Youth and Volunteer Safety Policy Handbook including:
a. An Abuse Response Team will be selected, as defined in the Handbook, including members that are not mandatory reporters, and subject to Consistory Approval.
